Description

The first mosque built in the history of Islam: its foundations were laid by the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) himself upon his arrival in Medina in 622 (the first year of the Hijra). An authentic hadith states: "Whoever purifies himself in his house and then comes to Masjid Quba and prays two rak'ahs there will have the reward of an Umrah" (Ibn Majah). Extensively renovated and expanded recently (2024-2025) — capacity 66,000 worshippers. Modern architecture incorporating traditional elements. A spiritually and historically significant activity for children: explaining the Hijra and the early days of Islam in Medina. Free entry. Separate women's/family area in accordance with regulations. Combine with a walk in Quba Walkway Park (1 km south).
